The Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC AR4) provided evidence of human-induced climate change at global and century scales. For the next report (AR5, due in 2014) there is a clear need to develop improved assessments of regional climate at decadal scales, including changes in mean processes as well as extreme events. The innovative computational methods developed as part of this project are intended to address these science needs. Specifically, we are focusing on applications in the following four areas:
