Education & Outreach
This NSF Expeditions in Computing project engages more than two dozen graduate students and several post-doctoral researchers across the partner institutions, as well as a number of undergraduate and summer research assistants. In addition, the universities involved in the project are integrating research methods and results into their courses. In the future, we will also create web-based course modules that will be available for use by our partners and other institutions or organizations.
An important set of educational goals for our project involves initiatives to engage students (including women and those from underrepresented minorities) to create interest and awareness of the work in the climate arena. The Expeditions team is collaborating with the Interdisciplinary Scientific Environmental Technology (ISET) program, whose objective is to provide opportunities for underrepresented students to study climate or environmental sciences and the related technologies.
